"BABY BATH SIZE" SILK SEA SPONGE - CARIBBEAN - NEW!

These silk sea sponges are soft, gentle, luxurious, and the perfect size for gently washing the delicate skin of babies and children! They can also be used by adults who prefer a small and soft sponge that easily fits into their palm rather than a large bath sponge.

These are the same silk sea sponges that we sell for facial care (only larger), which means that they are extremely soft and gentle. They are perfect for littles and those with sensitive skin, and they won't irritate, pull, or harm the skin like a washcloth, luffa, and other materials can.

Responsibly harvested and a naturally renewable resource, these sponges are hand-cut by divers to ensure that enough of the base remains intact so that the sponge can regrow. Studies show that areas harvested actually increase the population density of sponges. Sponges are biodegradable, and can be added to the compost once they've reached the end of their life-cycle.

Silk sponges form naturally (not by machines!) and as a result, their shapes and sizes are unique and irregular. Our "Baby Bath" Caribbean silk sea sponges are available in two sizes: 3-4 inches or 4-5 inches. The 3-4" size are cut sponges, and the 4-5" are premium whole sponges (higher quality). 

Sizes are approximate, and measured at their widest point across. As you'll see in the photos, sizes and shapes naturally vary. Please note that sponges are traditionally measured when wet.

How to use: saturate thoroughly with cold water, and lightly apply using circular motions. If desired, add a small amount of liquid soap or body wash. After using, rinse out the sponge completely with cold water, squeezing all excess water out (do not wring or twist as that can damage and break the fibers), and allow to air dry naturally.  

Note: there may be sand, small pebbles, or small pieces of seaweed in your sponge when you receive it due to the natural manner of this product. If you do, simply saturate with water and rinse them out.

Silk sponge care: Every few weeks, cleanse and disinfect by soaking in one of these solutions for two hours: 10% white vinegar with water, or 5% hydrogen peroxide with water for two hours. then rinse completely and air dry. Do not twist or pull the sponge, as this may damage the fibers and tear it.  After each use, allow sponge to dry completely.  With proper care, silk sponges can last for months.
