This is an extra-special salve made entirely from fresh herbs, flowers, wild plants, and tree clippings harvested from our property and the surrounding Pacific Northwest bioregion! It includes a synergistic blend of botanicals all picked fresh, locally, and ethically, then carefully and slowly dried at air temperature (to retain the plant's delicate properties). Finally, after two full months of preparation, I melted in pure beeswax and nourishing organic cocoa butter.
The result is a beautiful and potent salve with a deep color, and the aroma is of herbs and trees and wild plants and an herbal garden all in one! This ultra-nourishing and skin-loving topical treatment may be used whenever needed to sooth and assist with dry and rough hands, feet, elbows, and knees, to help with skin irritations, small cuts, minor abrasions, as a spot treatment, and as an all-around skin treatment and ally.
In the same vein as eating locally with the seasons, I really love this salve because it incorporates botanicals which are growing during this time of the year - rather than herbs purchased from a store which were harvested and processed elsewhere, and could be quite old. Rather, these herbs were freshly harvested earlier this year, air dried at very low temperatures for weeks to retain the plant's delicate properties, and then infused for weeks longer in a base of organic extra-virgin olive oil. Finally, the dark-green, very potent, rich, and concentrated oil was strained and melted into a base of beeswax and cocoa butter. This salve took TWO full months to make from start to finish, truly a labor of love! But, the result is completely worth it, and I think you'll agree!
As this salve reflects the season and the plants growing now, it's a little darker in color than our previous seasonal salves, and I think that the aroma is a little more woodsy in aroma.
