Bath Sea Sponges: The Differences & How to Choose the Perfect Type for You

All of the sponges in our shop are of high quality, but if you're not sure which one is the perfect choice for you, then we've created this guide to help! We tested and reviewed bath sponges from quite a few different suppliers before settling on our current supplier, and sincerely believe that the wide array of sea sponges that we offer are the very best that you'll find anywhere. There truly is no "bad choice", but since our sponges have proven to be so popular, we've expanded the line and now offer quite a few options (which can be confusing!). So, we wanted to break down our current offerings so that it's easier to choose the perfect sponge for you.

Natural + Sustainable Bath Sea Sponges {Caribbean}: These are the very first bath sponges that we offered. They are the most affordable and basic option in our line, and they are probably the closest to the sponges that you see offered in stores. They are wonderful all-around sponges, with the perfect amount of texture for exfoliation, yet they are soft and luxurious. These sponges are more economical than our premium sponges because they have been cut into their current shape and size. If you're looking for a natural, sustainable, and high-quality sponge that is affordable, then these are a great choice!

Natural + Sustainable Bath Sea Sponges {Gulf of Mexico}: Similar in texture and appearance to cut sponges from the Caribbean, but they tend to be more durable, longer lasting, and of better quality. If you're looking for a high quality yet affordable sponge which is environmentally friendly and sustainably harvested, then this is a step above our most basic option. A wonderful choice for all-around bathing needs!

 

 

Premium Natural + Sustainable Bath Sea Sponges {Caribbean}: These are premium, high quality, whole sponges ~ sustainably cut from their base, but with their beautiful and natural form intact. They may have been shaped and cut slightly by divers, but still maintain their original, natural form. Whole form sponges naturally last longer than cut sponges, and they are visually more appealing. If you're looking for a beautiful, high quality, and luxurious sponge which is also durable, then these are a perfect choice!

Premium Natural + Sustainable Bath Sea Sponges {Gulf of Mexico}: Similar to our premium sponges from the Caribbean, but higher in quality and more durable. These are premium, high quality, whole sponges ~ sustainably cut from their base, but with their beautiful and natural form intact. They may have been shaped and cut slightly by divers, but still maintain their original, natural form. Whole and uncut sponges naturally last longer than cut sponges, and they are visually more appealing. If you're looking for a high quality, gorgeous, and durable sponge, and if you prefer the traditional look of a beige-golden colored sponge over the look of an unbleached sponge, then this is the very best option for you! 

Unbleached Premium Bath Sea Sponges - Natural + Sustainable {Gulf of Mexico}: Our personal favorite sponge! These are very special and unique sponges which you won't find very easily elsewhere because we custom order these sponges. Not only are these sea sponges naturally a gorgeous chocolatey hue, but they are also the highest quality and most durable bathing sponge option available! These sponges are unbleached, whole (in their natural form, not cut), and sustainably harvested from the Gulf of Mexico. If you'd like the most natural option that will last the longest, then these are the very best option! 

Premium Deep Sea Wool Bath Sea Sponges: The softest sponges! If you prefer a very soft sponge over a more exfoliating sponge, then these are the perfect choice. Wool sponges are highly prized and widely considered to be the ultimate sponges for bathing. They are softer than other sponges (like "freshly spun wool"), denser, and usually more durable. They are gentle enough to be used in the bath or shower daily by all skin types, and they are delicate enough for children and babies. The wool sponges that we offer are of the highest quality, sustainably harvested from deep ocean depths (deeper ocean depths results in stronger, more durable, and higher quality sponges than those harvested in shallow waters). These are the perfect choice for anyone looking for a very soft and luxurious sponge! 

Luffa Bath Sponge: Rather than being harvested from the ocean, luffa's are a type of gourd, which means that these are plant-based and vegan. The natural fibers are perfect for exfoliating away dead and dull skin cells to reveal fresh, glowing, radiant, and healthy skin underneath. Most loofahs are grown overseas and are treated with pesticides and chemicals, but we wanted to bring you something better, so we've partnered with small family farms in California to bring you these gorgeous organically-grown luffas. They are soft, luxurious, and of superior quality. When compared to bath sea sponges, they are more durable, more exfoliating, and they will last longer. If you're looking for a bathing accessory that is affordable, plant-based, very durable, and exfoliating, then luffas are the perfect choice!

 

Please note that all sponges, regardless of quality and natural durability, must be handled with care and used properly. Sponges all have complex and delicate fibers, and they must be handled with care so that they are not ruined or compromised. Rinse completely after each use and air dry. Never twist or pull the sponge, and do not rub too vigorously on the skin. Gently squeeze the sponge to remove any excess water or soap, never wring or twist water and soap out. Twisting, pulling, or vigorously using the sponge will cause damage and tear the fibers, which will make the sponge fall apart. After each use, allow sponge to dry completely.
