Nourish, soften, smooth, and comfort your skin with our bakuchiol balm ~ featuring clinically-studied 1% Sytenol® A, barrier-supporting ceramides, and 16 nourishing botanical oils! This rich, waterless, preservative-free balm is built on the same beloved base as our Bakuchiol Botanical Facial Serum, then transformed into a solid balm with the addition of Kokum Butter and pure Beeswax ~ and elevated with three thoughtful new actives.

This formula is designed to nourish, soften, restore, and rejuvenate, while leaving skin feeling dewy, fresh, smooth, and beautifully moisturized. It's especially lovely for dry, mature, and changing skin, and wonderful for layering and nourishing skin during cold or dry weather. Made with bakuchiol, which studies have shown can smooth the look of fine lines and even the appearance of skin tone.

What's new in this formula:

We've kept everything people loved about our original bakuchiol balm, and added three powerful, thoughtfully-chosen actives to support and comfort sensitive, mature, and changing skin:

• Ceramide NP ~ a high-purity, skin-identical ceramide that helps support and strengthen your skin's natural moisture barrier, so skin feels resilient, comforted, and deeply hydrated.
• Alpha-Bisabolol ~ a gentle, soothing botanical that helps calm the look of redness and comfort skin prone to sensitivity.
• Astaxanthin ~ one of nature's most powerful antioxidants, to help defend skin against everyday environmental stress.

Featuring 1% Sytenol® A Bakuchiol from Sytheon (just like our serum). This is the clinically-studied form of bakuchiol used in the published research ~ the bakuchiol used in the major clinical trials that demonstrated bakuchiol's anti-aging efficacy, meaning it's the form with actual data and science behind it.

Bakuchiol is a gentler, botanical alternative to retinol. Published studies have shown it to be just as effective as retinol at smoothing the look of wrinkles, evening skin tone, and supporting the appearance of firmer, more elastic skin. Plus, it's known to support skin cell renewal and help skin look refreshed, brighter, and more radiant. And bakuchiol is completely natural, derived from plants, and doesn't cause the side effects that retinol can.

In studies with Sytenol® A (0.5% in studies), results included a 20% reduction in wrinkle surface area and a 59% reduction in hyperpigmentation, surpassing retinol (which showed 44%). Sytenol® A has also been shown to support collagen types I, III, and IV for smoother, firmer-looking, more resilient skin. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, and provides visible radiance and hydration.

Plum Kernel Oil, Certified Organic: An excellent oil naturally high in vitamins E, C, and A, and containing very-long-chain fatty acids, antioxidants, and soothing properties. Known to hydrate, brighten, repair, and soften skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and assisting with various skin irritations and conditions. A lightweight, noncomedogenic oil safe for all skin types including oily and acne-prone skin.

Avocado Oil, Certified Organic: Nourishing, protective, conditioning, nourishing, and assists with signs of aging. Very beneficial for sensitive and damaged skin.

Hemp Seed Oil, Certified Organic: Referred to as "nature's most perfectly balanced oil" due to its wide range of fatty acids, hemp seed oil is known to assist with a variety of difficult skin conditions, is soothing, moisturizing, nourishing, and protects against cellular damage.

Kokum Butter: A plant-based butter, pressed from Garcinia seeds which are native to India. It is non-comedogenic, meaning that it won't clog pores and can be used by all skin types. Kokum butter is deeply conditioning, nutrient rich, emollient, softens skin, protective, moisturizing, and assists with skin elasticity, dry skin, and cracked or weather-compromised skin. Yet, it absorbs quickly and is not greasy or oily feeling.

Argan Oil, Certified Organic: Referred to as "liquid gold", this is one of the very best ingredients to use in skin care! This remarkable oil protects, nourishes, hydrates, moisturizes, boosts skin elasticity, and revitalizes skin. It naturally high in vitamin E, squalene, carotenes, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. Considered an anti-aging ingredient which helps protect the skin from damage.

Tamanu Oil, Certified Organic: Referred to as "green gold", this is a very rich and thick therapeutic oil with protective, smoothing, and moisturizing qualities. It absorbs deeply into all three layers of the skin where it deeply conditions and nourishes. Often used to assist with various skin conditions, and very beneficial for dry, mature and aging skin.

Rosehip Seed Oil, Certified Organic: One of the very best ingredients for skin care! Well known and loved as a regenerative and nourishing oil which supports the look of firmness and smooth, healthy looking skin, improves skin elasticity, and contains vitamins A, C, and E.

Passion Fruit Seed Oil (unrefined, virgin): An exotic oil which soothes, relaxes, and calms the skin, supports the look of firm and healthy skin, benefits aging and dry skin as well as those with various skin conditions, and is very high in vitamin C.

Sytenol® A Bakuchiol: Featuring Sytenol® A Bakuchiol, a pure, concentrated, and standardized 99%+ bakuchiol extract — the gold-standard form of bakuchiol that’s been used in clinical studies and extensively researched for its incredible skin benefits. Clinical studies have shown bakuchiol to be just as effective as retinol at treating wrinkles, evening skin tone, and improving skin elasticity and firmness. Unlike retinol, it doesn’t cause dryness or irritation. It’s known to support the look of firmness, encourage refresh-looking skin, and help skin become refreshed, brighter, and more radiant. It can also be used during the day (whereas retinol is typically applied only at night, since it increases sun sensitivity). Evening Primrose Seed Oil, Certified Organic: A really rich and luxurious oil, often reserved for nighttime and under eye serums, utilized for a myriad of skin conditions, and contains gamma-linolenic acid and antioxidants which may help reduce and smooth wrinkles. 

Squalane Oil (sustainably derived from olives without the use of solvents). Squalene is naturally present and plentiful in our skin until our 20's, then begins to diminish as we age. However, plant-based squalane is nearly identical and clinical studies have shown that it visibly softens the look of wrinkles, softens and smooths skin, improves skin elasticity, balances oil production, protects, deeply hydrates, and moisturizes for more youthful, radiant, and healthy skin. It's a thick and rich oil, yet since it's so similar to the squalene that our skin naturally produces, it soaks in easily, balances oil production, and doesn't clog pores.

Pomegranate Seed Oil, Certified Organic: One of the thickest, richest, and most luxurious oils, this oil is highly nutritious for the skin, balances, conditions, helps regenerate skin cells, increases elasticity of the skin, deeply nourishes, protects, and supports the look of firmness.

Natural Alpha-Bisabolol: A gentle, soothing botanical compound, naturally derived from the candelilla plant. Bisabolol is best known as the calming component found in chamomile, and it's long been prized in skincare for its softening, soothing qualities. It helps calm the look of redness and comfort skin that's prone to sensitivity or reactivity. Beautifully gentle, it makes a lovely companion to bakuchiol ~ helping keep the whole formula kind and comforting, even for delicate, easily-irritated skin.

Vitamin E Oil, non-GMO: This powerful antioxidant helps smooth, condition, moisturize, and protect the skin. Beneficial for all skin types and for various skin conditions and irritations.

Sea Buckthorn Oil (cold pressed and unrefined): This is a very powerful and nourishing oil used to nourish and soothe a wide variety of skin needs, regenerate skin cells, improve skin tone, and decrease fine lines and wrinkles. Rich in vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, phytosterols, and nutrients including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins E, C, B1, B2, and K. A very concentrated and nourishing treatment.

Prickly Pear Seed Oil, Certified Organic: One of the very richest and most luxurious oils in the world! This oil is extremely nourishing, conditioning, restorative, and moisturizing. It softens, conditions, restores, and improves skin tone and elasticity. Naturally high in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins E and K.

Astaxanthin: One of nature's most powerful antioxidants, this beautiful compound is derived from microalgae (the same source that gives salmon and flamingos their rosy hue!). Antioxidants help defend the skin against the environmental stressors of everyday life, like pollution and UV exposure, that can contribute to visible signs of aging over time. Astaxanthin is especially prized for being remarkably potent, and it beautifully complements the vitamin E and bakuchiol in our formula, layering in extra antioxidant support to help skin stay healthy-looking, comforted, and radiant.

This is an Unscented formula, making it suitable for those with sensitivities to essential oils and fragrances, and folks who prefer scent-free products.

How to use: A little goes a long way ~ this balm is rich and concentrated, so start small. Dip a clean, dry fingertip into the jar, warm it between your fingers, and gently press and massage into your skin. Use it on its own for nourishing, barrier-supporting care, or layer it over a facial serum or oil to seal everything in ~ especially lovely at night, in dry or cold weather, and for skin that needs extra comfort. Use morning and/or night.

Please note that we're not trying to dissuade anyone from using retinol ~ it has been shown to have amazing results and there are many clinical studies proving it's effectiveness. But, for those who prefer a gentler plant-based ingredient, or whose skin is too irritated by retinol, Bakuchiol is a wonderful alternative!
