This is such a gentle, delicate, calming, and refreshing flower hydrosol ~ and one of the most quietly useful botanicals in our entire collection. Distilled from beautiful blue Centaurea cyanus cornflower blossoms, this hydrosol has a centuries-long history of use in European herbal and cosmetic traditions. In France, it is still lovingly known as eau de bleuet ~ bluebell water ~ and has been prized by French herbalists and apothecaries for generations as the classic botanical toner for sensitive skin and tired, puffy eyes.
Centaurea cyanus blossoms are naturally rich in anthocyanins, flavonoids (including apigenin, luteolin, and kaempferol), phenolic acids, and tannins ~ water-soluble plant compounds that give this hydrosol its antioxidant, calming, and gently astringent character. Anthocyanins are the same family of pigments responsible for the cornflower's stunning blue color, and they also help protect the skin from free radical damage and environmental stressors that contribute to premature aging. The tannins offer gentle astringency ~ naturally toning, minimizing the appearance of pores, and helping the skin feel refreshed and balanced.
Cosmetically, cornflower hydrosol is known to calm, tone, reduce the appearance of redness, purify, refresh, invigorate, and soothe the skin. It is wonderfully balancing for all skin types, and especially beautiful for sensitive, reactive, delicate, and barrier-compromised skin. It also makes a lovely daily toner for those whose skin is reactive or easily irritated by alcohol-based toners or products with fragrance.
Why cornflower is our go-to for tired, puffy eyes: This hydrosol is perhaps best loved in our line for its remarkable eye-area benefits ~ and this is where its centuries of traditional use are most beautifully expressed. The flavonoids and anthocyanins in cornflower are known to help improve circulation in the delicate capillary vessels around the eye area, supporting the natural drainage of fluid that causes puffiness and a tired appearance. To use as a compress: simply saturate two soft cotton rounds or a clean soft cloth with cornflower hydrosol, cool briefly in the refrigerator if desired (this feels especially magical!), and rest over closed eyes for 5~10 minutes. It's simple and soothing.
So if your skin is sensitive, reactive, or easily irritated ~ or if your eyes are telling the world you've been up too late ~ this gentle, hypoallergenic hydrosol may quickly become your most-reached-for bottle.
This hydrosol does not have much of a scent, which is part of what makes it so beautifully versatile. It has a subtle, faintly herbal and floral aroma ~ soft and unobtrusive. A versatile botanical mist, it can also be used as an aftershave, added to bath water, misted onto sunburned or reactive skin, or enjoyed as a refreshing body or room spray.
This amazing hydrosol is preservative-free, distilled at low temperatures, completely natural, pure, and undiluted, with no additives.
Available sizes: 2 oz frosted clear glass bottle or 4 oz amber glass bottle (both sizes come with a mister top).
Ingredients: Certified organic Cornflower Hydrosol distilled from Centaurea cyanus flowers (pure and preservative-free). Distilled in France.
Please note: If you prefer strongly scented products, then this hydrosol may not be for you. But if you love gentle, delicate, and light scents ~ or no scent at all ~ then this hydrosol is a dream. For eye compresses, always use clean cotton rounds or cloths, and avoid letting large amounts of liquid enter directly into the eyes.
How to use: First, wash and dry your face with water or a gentle facial wash. Mist with 1~3 spritzes of hydrosol. If you'd like, you can gently rub the hydrosol into your face. Allow to air dry or gently pat dry with a soft washcloth. Finish by applying a facial serum or moisturizer. Use twice per day (morning and night). For best results, apply while skin is still slightly damp, then follow immediately with your serum to lock in hydration. For tired or puffy eyes: saturate two cotton rounds with hydrosol and rest over closed eyes for 5~10 minutes. Keep a bottle in the refrigerator ~ the cooling effect makes everything feel even more soothing!
Psst ~ cornflower and bakuchiol are a beautiful daily pairing, especially for sensitive and maturing skin. Layer this hydrosol underneath our Bakuchiol Botanical Facial Serum for a calming, nourishing routine that supports your skin barrier every single day.
To extend the shelf life, store in a dry, cool, and dark area. Direct light and heat will reduce the effectiveness and shelf life of the product.
FREEZING TEMPERATURE WARNING: Hydrosols can freeze and break in cold temperatures. If you live in an area which is experiencing freezing or cold temperatures (32 degrees or lower), please do not order hydrosols until the temperatures warm up in your region. Otherwise, hydrosols can freeze, expand, and the glass bottles will break within your shipment.

Amazing product , wonderful smell , good for dry skin,. Works better for me than rose hydrosol.
Lovely, lightly scented hydrosol! Purchased this one twice now. It’s wonderful!
My face enjoys this facial toner.Refreshed & doesnt dry my face.v I would purchase this again & again.
’m really enjoying using the new cornflower hydrosol. It’s very gentle and soothing and for me it’s very eczema friendly and leaves a nice smooth finish on my skin. It’s very refreshing and pleasant to use. I like to spray it on my hands and pat it in to my skin and follow with serum to lock in the moisture. The scent is very very light—barely there for those who prefer an unscented product.
