Silk sea sponges are so soft, gentle, luxurious, and silky! These are the same silk sea sponges that we sell for facial care (only larger), which means that they are extremely soft and gentle.
These are the softest, silkiest sponges! Perfect for those with sensitive skin, and for washing the delicate skin of babies and children. They won't irritate, pull, or harm skin like a rough washcloth, luffa, and other materials can.
These are premium, high quality sea sponges. They are whole sponges, sustainably cut from their base, but with their beautiful and natural form intact. They may have been shaped and cut slightly by divers, but are still in their original, natural form. Since these sponges grow naturally in the sea, each sponge is unique in color, shape, size, and appearance. As you'll see in the photos, the sponges can vary quite a bit in appearance - no two are exactly the same! Whole premium sponges are more expensive than cut sponges, but they are usually more durable and last longer.
Measured at their widest point, our Silk Bath Sea Sponges measure approximately 4-5" across, with overall dimensions varying from sponge to sponge. Please note that sponges are traditionally measured when wet, and expand once submerged in water.
Responsibly harvested and a naturally renewable resource, these sponges are hand-cut by divers to ensure that enough of the base remains intact so that the sponge can regrow. Studies show that areas harvested actually increase the population density of sponges. Sponges are biodegradable, and can be added to the compost once they've reached the end of their life-cycle.
Natural sea sponges are a renewable resource, and they are so much better for our environment than plastic poufs and bath accessories made from synthetic fibers. Not only do the plastic-derived products cause environmental pollution and consume a lot of natural resources to produce, but they have to be thrown away at the end of their lifecycle. Once in a landfill, they continue to break down and contribute to micro-plastic contamination in our soil, water sources, and oceans.

Sponge care: Rinse completely after each use and air dry. Sponges have complex and delicate fibers, and must be handled with care. Never twist or pull the sponge, and do not rub too vigorously on the skin. Gently squeeze the sponge to remove any excess water or soap, never wring or twist water and soap out. Twisting, pulling, or vigorously using the sponge will cause damage and tear the fibers, which will make the sponge fall apart. After each use, allow sponge to dry completely. Sponges will last much longer with proper care. Once they have reached the end of their life cycle, they can be easily composted instead of ending up in the landfill like synthetic alternatives.

If multiple sponges are ordered, they will be packaged in bundles (not individually wrapped). If you'd like each sponge to be individually wrapped for gift-giving or other needs, please let us know when you place your order so that we can package your order accordingly.
Note: there may be sand, small pebbles, or small pieces of seaweed in your sponge when you receive it due to the natural manner of this product. If you do, simply saturate with water and rinse them out.
